Famous Last Words: Spring Break

The past week felt very different for me and I cannot quite pin out why. It is possibly because I have so much going on and the week felt like it was passing by fast, but not really. I did not have time to catch up with all my extra credit options and that is why I am spending time now while traveling to complete these activities. I truly enjoyed this week's writing activities and the reading was fun too. For next week, I plan to either finish part B of one of my stories or continue on with a new one. And it is my hopes, if time permits, to work ahead of schedule and catch up on the coming weeks' work. I've read some pretty good stories this week and learned a lot from feedback provided by other students. This class is really interesting and the writing process that I am learning, allows me to be open to new ideas and explore other options which I not only implement in this class, but other classes as well. My second class is starting sometime in June and I am almost certain that a lot of writing will be required in that class as well and I am excited to try my new writing techniques, growth mindset, review notes, etc in that class. I feel that the review notes help in other aspects of my daily routine as well and serves as a great reminder for tasks that need to be completed. I also enjoy receiving feedback from Laura on our stories and I am a big believer in the more eyes you have on your writing, the better, because people have different opinions, views and perspectives. I look forward to Spring Break – It will be much needed.

Famous Last Words: Fast Week

This week went by so fast and it is probably because was traveling. I am able, once again, to complete all the extra credit opportunities which makes me feel good and know that it will help me in the long run. I am lucky enough not to have any midterms or other classes to focus on, so I have it quite easy :) This week’s stories was very fun to read and I think that my story about Jack and the beanstalk is one of my best. I did have trouble linking my story to my portfolio, so that is something I still need to fix. I also had issues with tech tip, so I need to spend more time and figure out how to do the weather app tech tip, as well as the YouTube tech tip – it was very frustrating that it did not work properly.
For next week, I have my usual class schedule to follow with extra credit opportunities – I want to do as many as possible. I will have a busy week with homework, personal work and appointments. I will have to make sure that I can complete as much work as possible with the little time that I have. It is my hopes to read the upcoming week’s stories with more focus and detail, in the hopes that I will be inspired to write a really good, long story.
This week has also been really interesting to me, because my baby is starting to smile more, etc and is almost 2months old.

Famous Last Words:One Tired Student

Famous Last Words: One Tired Student
I am really enjoying this class and everyday is an opportunity to either learn something completely new or it reminds me of something that I have heard of in the past.

I am, however at that stage where I am so tired of doing homework, but reminding myself of the benefits and that it is only a few more weeks longer, keeps me going. This week, I truly enjoyed writing my poem / rhyme and it was quite fun - even though it took a while to wrote, because finding words that will rhyme is not always too easy. I will be travelling for the next three days, so it's very important for me not to fall behind. I do all the extra credit opportunities possible, so that will definitely help me in the future.

I can not wait for Spring Break!

Famous Last Words: A Week Gone By Fast

A Week Gone By Fast

This week went  by so fast and the fact that we had a grace period with no homework due, really helped me to focus on other aspects of my weekly duties. I enjoyed this week's reading and found the stories to flow very well, but I am still stuck on the extra credit reading; Pattanaik's Narayan, part B- What Dies Is Always Reborn.

I think part of the reason why I am stuck on this, is because Pattanaik mentions in the article that "the Greeks did not believe in rebirth. Neither do Christians and Muslims". This is true and it is stated in the Bible that the human body decays to dust but that one's soul and spirit will continue on in either of two ways; Heaven or hell. Hindus believe in a cycle, known as Samara, which is like reincarnation, where an individual's soul is reincarnated into another body (all due to karma). It is the idea that souls last forever - they never die. Is this because they are scared of death? Or is it the fact that their souls have nowhere to go after death? Are they rebelling death? Who came up with the idea of reincarnation and karma? Are there some Hindus who believe otherwise? I have so many questions and it will be interesting to find out what the answers are. Am I trying to overthink this story? I personally do not believe in karma, because God is the ultimate decider of my outcomes. I find it so so interesting and the more I read the weekly stories, the more I try to comprehend the Hindu / Buddhist religion, while keeping an open mind.

1. This week I did better with catching up on assignments and I am all caught up with business related tasks that had to be completed in a timely manner. I am proud of myself that I am able to take on so many tasks, while being a mother.

2. I still find that I am procrastinating a little bit on assignments that is lengthier. I will try to work on this. I will be making a checklist for myself in order to stay on track with personal obligations.

Famous Last Words; The Week In Review

The Week in Review

It is the first time since class started, that I will be making an assessment of my progress thus far. I think that this week's reading was a bit more complicated to read, simply because of all the different links, tabs and additional information regarding the stories. Yet, it was fun and I enjoyed the fact that the story was broken up into tabs. It made it less tedious and if / when I decided to take a break, I could pick up right where I left off, without getting confused or lost.

Since this is the only class that I am currently taking, I have to say that this weeks' writing was quite fun and I enjoyed it more than week one. We have fairly a few excellent writers in this class and it is always fascinating to see that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder - what is beautiful and different for one person, can be seen differently by another. Reading different posts every week inspires me to make my own stories enjoyable to read for others. That is what makes this class so much fun and interesting! There is no right or wrong answer on the stories and blogs that we post. It is all about finding one's creative side and writing what YOU belief to be inspiring. This class and its components truly sets one up for success and growth.

My agenda for next week, is to focus on this class and hopefully get a head start or have my homework completed by Friday, instead of procrastinating (again). I have to focus on my newborn and run our business as well, so prioritizing will play a prominent role for the upcoming week!
